The Adventurer's Backpack: Fording the Fold

The Adventurer's Backpack is our Yarn and Project bag club, this time exploring different themes all with an underlying sci fi and fantasy element in the design of the fabric and yarn.

This Club's theme is Fording the Fold, Inspired by the Shadow and Bone Series. 

This club nets you some themed yarn in the base of your choosing from our collection of bases and a medium size project bag in a special fabric designed by me that will made by another awesome creator.

This project bag club will include project bags made by Sew Yarnilicious
 which will be made from printed canvas (TVY) and  premium oilcloth.

There is a non wool yarn option for this club available on Kaguya 4ply and Tencel Dk non wool bases, please note It won't be exactly the same as the wool version due to the different style of dyeing required.

If you would like non - Sw yarn choose Appledore Dk, please note that it will come out slightly different from the sw colourway.

Third Vault Yarns Companion base is a squishy soft merino yarn that knits like a dream. Companion is named in tribute to all the companions throughout the galaxy, travelling in time and space, through the black, respectable and otherwise! One skein works for a lovely shawl or a large pair of socks. More than one skein would make a lovely garment.

Librarian Sock

• 75% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester 25% Nylon

• Approximately 8 stitches per inch on 3.25mm needles

Third Vault Yarns Librarian sock is a nicely plied slightly crisp lusturous sock weight yarn, that is still nice and soft. Named in tribute to Librarians as the gatekeepers to the gates of wonder and magic. Keepers of history, knowledge and imagination. These sturdy, stable bastions of culture and learning are ideal to represent this sock weight yarn which has wonderful strength and character. Perfect for making socks to snuggle up in on those cold nights or the workhorse socks for a long day out.

Kaguya 4ply (non wool yarn)

• Approximately 9 stitches per inch on 3.25mm needles

Kaguya 4ply is a lovely drapey bamboo yarn, that contains no wool. It is ideal for garments and accessories.

Selkie 4ply

• 50% Superwash Merino 50% Silk

Selkie is inspired by the seal people of myth and folklore, and the hypnotic dancers who eventually got their seal skins returned in Lost Girl. This beautiful yarn, is soft and silky with a lovely sheen, great handle and drape. This luxurious yarn can be used for next to the skin garments and items, or any outer items for added wow.

Caroline Dk / Worsted

100% Superwash Merino

• Each skein weighs 115g and is 230 meters
• Machine wash cold , dry flat

Caroline is our newest Dk base replacing a much loved Echo Dk, this yarn is Extra springy and still has lots of squish. Gives great stitch definition and is still a heavy hitter versatile yarn just like Echo.

Glow Dk
100% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester

• Each skein weighs 100g and is 225 meters
• Machine wash cold , dry flat

Glow Dk is a delicious smooth BFL DK yarn with an intense lustre, makes beautiful garments and is an asset to most projects.

Appledore Dk (non sw)

• Each skein weighs 100g and is 250 meters
• Hand wash only , dry flat

This yarn is two fold DK, with a distinctive rustic halo (the handle is a little reminiscent of a Shetland yarn). The resulting fabric has wonderfully warm woolly halo and a full-bodied texture. Because of this halo and its two-ply nature, the resulting yarn can be worked at both a tight and looser gauge, as the halo of fibres will simply expand to fill in any gaps around the stitches. 

Selkie Dk

• Approximately 5 ½ stitches per inch on 4mm needles

Space Aran
Hand Dyed Wool Yarn

Aran Weight

• Each skein weighs 100g and is 166 meters
• Hand dyed with colour-fast acid dyes
• Machine wash cold , dry flat

Space is a gorgeously springy 3 plied Aran weight yarn which is ideal for winter jumpers, hats and cowl knitting. Space is named with it's sister yarn of the same weight but different base, Time because with Sci Fi and Fantasy all of space and time is open to you!

There may be some variation from skein to skein, even within the same dyelot. For best results, alternate skeins every few rows in projects using several skeins.
• This skein is machine washable, though to preserve colour and texture in your garments, gentle hand washing is recommended.
• All skeins undergo a 4-5 step washing process but some colours are prone to a small amount of bleeding in their first or second wash, due to .his we recommend washing in cold water with a gentle detergent or wool wash
